Reed & Barton began producing the Francis I design in 1907 and it proved to be one of their most enduring. With such a long run (ending in 2019), every conceivable utensil has been produced with this pattern — weird scissors, goblets because who doesn’t want to drink out of a goblet? , a tomato knife, a spatula just for toast… Our offering is a bread tray. The rim is 11-3/4″ x 7-1/2″. The bottom is 7″ x 3-1/8″. The depth is around 1-1/4. The bottom of the tray is stamped with R&B’s adorable little date mark for 1954 (looks like an apothecary’s mortar & pestle) plus. REED & BARTON STERLING x568 FRANCIS I. I work for a goldsmith and he was kind enough to polish this dish for me, so it’s ready to use with a mirror finish. This piece does not have a monogram. And it never did.
