Francis I by Reed & Barton sterling silver 3 piece children’s set or youth set. This is sterling silver. This is estate silver that has only been very lightly used. We had all the pieces lightly buffed up to look like new. This could easily be given as a gift. All of the pieces are in excellent condition. No monograms or monogram removals. The knife is 7 7/8″, the fork is 6″ and the teaspoon is 5.5.

3 piece junior set of Reed & Barton Francis 1 sterling silver. Fork, spoon and knife. Not sure of age. Each has a C monogram on the back of the handles. They have light scratches and marks from use and age. They weigh 3.6 oz on my postal scale(which includes the stainless steel knife blade). This youth set in Reed and Barton’s Les Cinq Fleur is comprised of: a sterling handled knife with a silverplated blade that measures 7 3/4″; a fork that is 6″ long and weighs 33 grams; and a spoon that measure 5 3/4 and weighs 26 grams. Each of these pieces is engraved to Francis on the front in nice cursive lettering and on the back engraved Dec 24-1911. Both the spoon and the fork are stamped on their backs for Reed & Barton, sterling Pat May 22nd 1900, and the spoon has an additional retailer stamp for Bunde & Upmeyer. The knife is stamped on it’s side for Reed & Barton and sterling.

Youth Set of Reed & Barton Francis I Sterling Silver including a spoon and knife. A lovely small spoon and spatula style knife with the iconic Francis I design on the neck moving down the stem to the handle. Stamped on the underside with “Reed and Barton”. Spoon is backstamped with “Sterling”. Knife is backstamped with “Mirrorstele”. Production ended in 2019. It was designed by Ernest Meyer, a French silversmith. His goal was to create a pattern that eclipsed the splendid Renaissance-Baroque metalwork of Benvenuto Cellini, court artist and sculptor in the court of King Francis I who ascended the French throne in 1515. It took him three years to design. The pattern is unique, given that – unlike other flatware patterns – it has fifteen different fruit-and-flower clusters. Each handle bears one of these detailed designs. Francis 1st flatware was produced by Reed & Barton Silversmiths. The original backstamp featured a lion, an eagle, and the letter “R”; Commonly called “Eagle-R-Lion”. In about 1950 a new backstamp came into use which reads “Reed and Barton”.
