Presented is a fabulous Reed & Barton sterling silver 141 piece flatware set. This set is done in the lovely Francis I pattern, which began production in 1907. This is an attractive pattern featuring classical foliate scrollwork and fruit designs in crisp high relief on the handles. The set serves 25, with additional counts of both forks and teaspoons. The knives have sterling silver handles and stainless steel blades. All of the pieces are unmonogrammed. The set consists of. 4 knives-9 1/2 inches. 25 knives-8 7/8 inches. 3 butter knives-6 3/8 inches. 33 forks-7 1/8 inches. 33 salad forks-6 1/8 inches. 12 round soup spoons-5 7/8 inches. 31 teaspoons-5 7/8 inches. Each piece is stamped with the Reed & Barton maker’s mark as well as sterling. The knives are marked on the blade with Reed & Barton, sterling handle, and “Mirrorstele, ” Reed & Barton’s proprietary stainless steel. This set is in good condition. The details of the pattern are nice and crisp. Most pieces have some minor surface wear, commensurate with age and light use. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs. We are including with the set a felt-lined wooden flatware storage chest. The chest is in fair/used shape and does an excellent job of protecting the silver from tarnish. The weighable silver weight for the set, not including the knives or butter spreaders with stainless steel blades, is 5038 grams or 177.7 regular ounces. If including the 32 knives, then the true weight is obviously much greater. Powered by SixBit’s eCommerce Solution.
