Reed Barton Francis I Sterling Silver Dinner Knives 9 Set of 4 No Mono
These spectacular Reed and Barton sterling silver dinner knives are from my mother’s wedding silver service from 1942. In the heavily embellished Francis I pattern, they measure 9 in length. The set was used only for special occasions and so these knives are in like-new condition, with no dents or scratches, and look relatively unused. They have been cleaned and polished by hand, only. They each have the Reed and Barton and Mirror Steel stamps on the blade, and are not monogrammed. Reed & Barton Francis I Design from 1907:This Renaissance-Baroque-inspired design remains one of the most popular Reed & Barton flatware styles. Introduced in the first decade of the 1900s, this design was named after King Francis the 1st of France. This set includes a detailed fruit and flowers design. If you like this item, please view my other listings. This flatware is made in the U. And is warranted by its production company for 100 years. Three American Presidents (Wilson, Truman, and Eisenhower) have owned the Francis 1st tableware pattern. It was designed by Ernest Meyer, a French silversmith. His goal was to create a pattern that eclipsed the splendid Renaissance-Baroque metalwork of Benvenuto Cellini, court artist and sculptor in the court of King Francis I who ascended the French throne in 1515. It took him three years to design. The pattern is unique, given that – unlike other flatware patterns – it has fifteen different fruit-and-flower clusters. Each handle bears one of these detailed designs. The item “Reed Barton Francis I Sterling Silver Dinner Knives 9 Set of 4 No Mono” is in sale since Tuesday, November 24, 2020.
