Silverware company Babbitt & Crossman took a financial down turn in 1834 and two of its craftsman Henry G. Reed and Charles E. The company was eventually renamed in 1840 to Reed & Barton. So began the journey of a company that would rival Tiffany & Co and Gorham silverware for the manufacture of fine silverware. In 1996 Reed & Barton were chosen to create all the medals awarded to athletes for the XXVI Olympics hosted in Atlanta, Georgia.
